Vice, 18 x 20, oil on linen
I think this painting is fun. I’ve been working on it, on and off, for the past couple of weeks. Friends who stop by my house typically laugh first, then pause, then tilt their heads in a funny way. Not a bad response to a painting.
A vice needs to be restrained–somehow or othervise.
An artist, on the other hand, must be free to explore and create–to be an Artist-in-Chief and not just a Vice-Artist.
It makes me cringe, like the glass is making a gritty, squeaky sound.
