Today, I worked on the upper part of the back. I only had about two hours. I wish I had five hours to paint. Stopping after two hours, when the paint is finally all layed down, is kind of like getting cut off, mid sentence. The flow of light, down the back, is just beautiful.
From one hsbw (head scratching brush wielder) to another, the time was truly well spent, D
It’s really coming along — don’t accept any more invitations to dinner parties.
Yes! I love seeing the body (in paint) emerge. The face in nudity is (artistically) very tricky. It makes me realize why Velasquez used the device of the mirror in the Rokeby. I don’t have a clue as to what you should do. But remember that bold (my word of the moment) line along the body of Anna. You need something like that to anchor the eye, to distract it, or rather, energize it in some way that makes the body more than just something beautiful and/or sexy (but not less! of course.) But you’ll do something. I know it. The viewer should be made to want desperately to see more of the woman than is possible on a flat surface.
