Policies
- To pay in person, email the studio to reserve your spot.
- Early enrollment is recommended. Each class has a maximum of six students, and classes typically fill quickly.
- Refund policy: Prior to the beginning of a semester, those canceling enrollment will receive 100% refund. Upon completion of the first class, if the student wishes to withdraw from a course, $50 will be retained, and the remainder refunded. Students withdrawing following the second class will be refunded 50%. Following the third class, there are no refunds. In the event of special circumstances, please contact the studio by email.
- Make-up policy: Missed classes can be made up for by the student temporarily filling into another course during the same semester. The McEvoy Studio will not offer any additional classes to make up for student absence. Classes will not be pro-rated, regardless of circumstances. Makeups cannot be rolled into following semesters.
- Weather policy: In the event of inclement weather, the studio will make up all classes. If the weather looks bad, please be advised to keep an eye on your phone, as alerts and weather cancellations will be sent out via text. Typically, the semester will be extended as many weeks as there are makeups. For example, a Monday 2-5 p.m.class missed in February will be tacked on to a Monday from 2-5 p.m. at the end of the semester in March.
- Figure Model Fees: The McEvoy Studio pays the fee for the figure model.
- A note on Portrait Courses: One of the most desirable courses offered at The McEvoy Studio is the portrait course, which is modeled after the Cecil Studios of Florence, Italy. The McEvoy Studio provides a list of available portrait models and their phone numbers, and will arrange portrait models for new students. Portrait models are paid for entirely by the students. The best portraits are produced when two artists work beside one portrait model, students unanimously preferring this ideal student-to-model ratio. (In the portrait courses offered at the McEvoy Studio, portrait students are never confronted with the difficult situation of being one of seventeen students peering over the shoulder of a bystanding student, trying to paint a portrait from a bad angle — a common problem in most art schools. ) McEvoy Studio portrait models charge $10 per hour, and artists split the fee between themselves. The studio is not responsible for absences and missed payments on behalf of any student who may be partnering with another student.
