vonnegut, miller, peart, and beethoven
This was knew of my very favorite commissions I've ever received. Six years ago, my brother Sean commissioned this for his friend, Troy. The medium is ink, on tile board from Home Depot. It was done in one evening, at the kitchen table. It was drawn with q-tips, toothpicks, plastic shopping bags, and finger tips.
From left to right, it's Neil Peart from Rush, Kurt Vonnegut, Henry Miller, and Beethoven. Long story short, these are the heros of a molecular biologist by the name of Troy Shirangi. He studies drysophili (fruit flies) by day, and by night composes music and argues the meaning of books such as Bluebeard.
Recently, Troy asked if I can open up the ink drawing again, to include Joseph Campbell. Wouldn't it be funny if I drew Richard Simmons, instead?
